The Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia awards Battestin Fellowhips, a program for summer fellowships in bibliographic and textual studies, named in honor of Martin and Ruthe Battestin. The program makes three awards of $3500 each for research in the collections of the UVA library by UVA graduate students with an emphasis on physical or textual bibliography.
Deadline: The application period for summer 2017 is now closed.
Potential fellowship topics include:
- Studies in the history of book production, distribution, reception, or reading
- The history of collecting or bibliographic scholarship
- The tracing of a work's textual history or the establishment of its text from the extant witnesses
- Application of digital methodologies to the study of books and documents, and their texts
