UVA Bay Game April 2014

Play the UVA Bay Game in celebration of Earth Day 2014!

Celebrate Earth Day 2014, the 5th Anniversary of the UVa Bay Game, and the launch of a brand new watershed games platform -- Global Water Games! On April 24, 2014 from 2:30-5:00pm in the Brown Science and Engineering Library, a large-scale gameplay of the UVa Bay Game will take place, with players from across the University community. All are invited to sign up for a fun, collaborative, and exciting game which teaches players about decision-making and policy around environmental issues.

Global Water Games provides innovative tools and prototypes for developing computer-based simulations that show the interrelation of human activity and natural processes. Players take the roles of key stakeholders, make decisions based on their livelihoods or regulatory authority, and discover the economic and environmental impacts of their actions.

The Global Water Games template supports rapid development of a realistic participatory simulation of any watershed. Our prototype simulation of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, the UVA Bay Game, demonstrates the potential of these tools to revolutionize environmental education and policy-making through the visualization of information and stakeholder collaboration.

Registration is required for this event. SIGN-UP HERE.Watch a short video about the game here. Questions? Contact Meg Harris (meg@virginia.edu).
