PhD+ Career Design skills training series in Fall 2020 will be offered every Thursday of October at 3.30 pm – 5 pm (5 weeks equal to 7.5 hours in-class time. Excludes preparation time). We encourage all PhD students in year 2 and above, and Postdoctoral Scholars at all stages of training to participate. Upon successful completion (75%) of this session, PhD students are eligible for non-credit credential (PhDP 9100) in academic transcript.

This is the first session of PhD Plus Career Design skills training series.

Learning outcome:

Self-assessment: This is something most of us have unconsciously practiced while making decisions on undergraduate majors or thesis projects in graduate school. Essentially, it involves introspecting your relationship to the world of work, and outlining your core values, skills and interests, through worksheets and online tools like myIDP for STEM, ChemIDP for Chemistry-related and ImaginePhD for Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.

In this session, trainees will contemplate on their

  • Relationship to work
  • Likes and dislikes in areas of work
  • Values driving decisions and motivations
  • Skills they value

This session will involve pre-workshop and post-workshop preparation.
