NSF GRFP Session - Introduction

An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a tool used by graduate students and postdocs to plan their professional development along with his or her research mentor or supervisor. IDPs are a useful tool when planning work and learning experiences and other activities that contribute to the development of skills and competencies necessary for future careers.

 

In this interactive session, students and postdocs will learn about IDPs and begin to create their own IDP using an interactive web-based program.

 

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or hand-held mobile device (not a cell phone) to the session.

NSF GRFP Session - Draft Writing Workshop

Attend this session to receive tips for all of the application sections - form, personal statement and proposal. The application does not explicitly ask for a CV or resume, however parts of it take information from these documents. This session will help ensure you are thinking strategically about what you include in the application. In addition, we will cover information on how to convey your broader impacts and intellectual merits in the personal statement and proposal as you persuade the reviewers to fund your application.

Academic Job Search Series: Cover Letters

NSF GRFP Session - Complete Application Review

Attend this session to have your complete application reviewed by faculty and current NSF recipients. Must submit complete application which includes your CV/resume, 3 page personal statement, and 2 page proposal to keishajohn@virginia.edu by 5pm on Friday October 2nd. We will assign you a 10 minute appointment where you will receive verbal feedback on your documents as well as written comments similar to what you will receive from the NSF.
