11:00 am: K99/R00 Workshop (90min)

We are hosting two experts on NIH training awards and career development

   - Joan Lakoski - Director of Investigator Development, West Virginia University/ WVCTSI

   - Robert Milner - Professor of Neurology, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School

 

12:30 pm: Mock Study Section (30min)

Learn how a study section works during our ‘Mock’ study section, featuring our UVA Faculty as reviewers.

 

1:00 pm: Lunch

Lunch will be provided (RSVP required)

 

2:30 pm: Panel Discussion with K99 Awardees 

Ask your questions in our panel discussion with recent K99/R00 awardees that are now UVA Faculty.

About the NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award

The purpose of this program is to increase and maintain a strong cohort of new and talented, NIH-supported, independent investigators. This program is designed to facilitate a timely transition of outstanding postdoctoral researchers or clinician-scientists from mentored research positions to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions, and to provide independent NIH research support during the transition that will help these individuals launch competitive, independent research careers.
